Gold ist ein chemisches Element, mit dem chemischen Zeichen Au. Es ist ein rötlichgelbes, weiches Edelmetall, das beständig gegenüber Luft und Säuren ist. Löslich ist Gold nur in starken Oxidationsmitteln. Gold wird zur Herstellung von Schmuck und Münzen sowie zur Färbung von Glas und Porzellan verwendet. Das Hauptproduktionsland ist Südafrika.
