Allgemein: Jemand, der aus seiner Tätigkeit her kein Geld erwartet.
Da daher auch meist keine grosse Erfahrung und Ausbildung vorliegt, hat der Amateur auch den Beigeschmack, dass er seine Sache nicht richtig kann.
Sportler ohne Einkommen aus dem Sportlerdasein.
Amateure erbringen also eine Leistung ohne dafür Geld zu erhalten. Sie können dennoch ganz gut leben, wenn sie eine Symbiose mit jemanden eingehen, der Ihnen Geld gibt, ohne eine Gegenleistung zu erwarten. Solche selbstlosen Institutionen sind die Bundeswehr, die Polizei und andere.
