England ist das größte und am dichtesten besiedelte Gebiet des Vereinigten Königreichs von Großbritannien und Nordirland. England gilt als Heimat des Fußballs. Berühmt sind die Engländer auch wegen ihrer Gärten und ihres schwarzen Humors. England umfasst die südliche Hälfte der Insel Großbritannien, grenzt im Norden an Schottland und im Westen an Wales und die Irische See. Im Osten grenzt England, das aus 39 historischen Grafschaften besteht, an die Nordsee, im Süden liegt England am Ärmelkanal. Die englische Regierung und die königliche Familie hat ihren Sitz in der Hauptstadt London. England hat - im Gegensatz zu Schottland, Wales oder Nordirland - kein Landesparlament oder eine Landesregierung. Deren Aufgaben übernimmt das Parlament und die Regierung des Vereinigten Königreiches.
